'That Hungry Chef', Pratap Chahal, has cooked at Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s, Chez Bruce, Cinnamon Club and Galvin Bistrot, amongst others. He is accompanied by his wife, Nikhat previously a child psychologist, who looks after Front of House.

His food is inspired by his travels around the world, life in London and Indian heritage.

The Whole Hog

There’s nothing more comforting than going out for dinner and feeling like it’s your own private party. At chez Hungry Chef, the atmosphere is exactly that!

Diners end up staying for hours, chatting away over several glasses of wine, in a dreamy food coma. Conversations flutter from travel, food, antique furniture and art, to life in London and the infamous British weather.

Also, there’s usually a last minute surprise or two thrown in by Pratap and his wife.

Having won critical acclaim from Fay Maschler and Guy Diamond for his cooking at Greenberry Café, Pratap also spent 18 months travelling around the world, eating and drinking his way through the best restaurants, cafes and markets.

Based around the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent, the dinners take inspiration from the royal houses of India, Pratap’s world travels and great British seasonal produce.

Ideal for meeting new people or partying with old friends, in the surrounds of a gorgeous Islington home, this Grub Club is sure to have you return.

The menu changes monthly, giving you the opportunity to sample Pratap’s vast repertoire of food and even get a chance to improve your food knowledge.

The most memorable meal I have had in London. Pratap and Nikhat clearly love creating these unique experiences for guests and it shows. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a unique dining experience in a warm environment.

One runs out of superlatives to describe the sensual pleasure provided when dining at Pratap's. Thoughtful, well crafted food, served with panache and considerable charm by the front of house team of Pratap and Nikhat in the beautiful surroundings of their lovely home. Nobody does it better.
