Stairway to Heaven's Kitchen



We are Leonardo and Stefano, from Mantua in Northern Italy. 



We set up Stairway to Heaven’s Kitchen in 2012 because we wanted to bring some of the original recipes from our childhood in Italy to London.



Since then, it has become a way for us to express ourselves through food and we want to bring some fun, as well as some innovative dishes, to the dinner table.

In a Nutshell

The Whole Hog

Stefano has a passion for food and cooking - as a child he loved helping his grandmother Teresa in the kitchen and she passed down her expertise and love for Italian cuisine to him.

 This passion sent him on a journey to Scuola Alberghiera, on Lake Garda, to get his Chef’s Qualifications.

In 2002, he moved to London, where 

he started as a Chef de Partie at Antonio Carluccio’s Covent Garden Restaurant, in Neal Street . 

In 2004, he moved to the Walnut Tree Inn, in Abergavenny, Wales, where he was promoted to Sous Chef. 

Back to London in 2006, he won the position of Head Chef at Osteria Emilia in Hampstead.



Leonardo hails from Calliera, a very small village in the province of Mantua. 

He's very passionate about food and has always worked in food retail or restaurants. He currently works at Giacobazzi's, a specialty Italian delicatessen in Hampstead.
