We are Pureism. Inspired by the simplicity and purity of 精進料理 (shōjin ryōri - Buddist temple cuisine) we are passionate cooks who love to celebrate seasonal produce using the cooking principles of Zen Buddhism. We have received training in London, Tokyo and Paris, spending time in temples across Japan, and learning the art of shojin ryori from some of the world's masters. We share a passion for healthy, nutritious food that is cooked with integrity and respect.

The Whole Hog

Inspired by the principles of Buddhist temple food (精進料理 -shōjin ryōri) Pureism will showcase an evening of organic vegan Japanese cuisine, locally sourced where possible, accompanied with live music performed by Hibiki Ichikawa and folk vocals from Akari Mochizuki. We are eager to introduce the delicious temple food of Japan to London, with our own twists, cooking based on the age old principles of Zen Buddhism. Out of the restaurant environment we have the rare opportunity to hosting our latest supperclub in the Red Hedgehog, an event space in Highgate, that is not yet open to the public for food events.
