A wonderful evening hosted by a wonderful chef who is not afraid to experiment and try something a little different.
Delicious food! Great brand themed menu. The Museum is really cool! The room we were seated in had poor acoustics so it was really loud, exacerbated by a really loud group of kids. However, excepting this, it was a great evening!
Not impressed by this experience. The description of the evening states a start time of 7pm but food wasn't served until a couple of hrs later. Instead we were left to buy the expensive wine available. Notwithstanding my team and I were in a happy and celebratory mood only to be told to leave because we were apparently 'too loud'. This being a complaint from a guy who thought it was ok to swear at us in an appallingly foul manner. All very unfortunately corroborated by the mr pig stuff team who seemed unwilling to hear our side of the story. What was supposed to be a fun celebration for my team and I ended up being ruined which was incredibly unfortunate as most events that I've been to organised by grub club have been excellent.
Wonderful venue- great to be allowed to go round the museum- as a child of the 70's, it was a great trip down memory lane. The garden is lovely and perfect place for a sit down, drinks and canapes before dinner. Dining in the museum surrounded by the exhibits was really lovely and the ice breaker of the quiz part way through meal was such fun. Food was yummy - minor point- would have preferred the Pimms jelly as a complete dish with everything set into the jelly rather than deconstructed as it didn't work eating separate components. I scored the ambience lower- not because of the venue or food -but because we were on table directly behind a group of 8 drunken, very noisy, rude and disrespectful bunch of youngsters shouting and banging their cutlery and barging past us without an 'excuse me'- who seemed to think they were at the Student Union -and when we asked them to quieten down, they got worse and were insulting some of the people who had spoken to them. The gang-leader- rather obnoxious girl then proceeded to glare rudely at people on other table who had also complained about their behaviour. They did piss off all the other diners! What a relief when they left -the difference in noise level and atmosphere was quite dramatic. I've been to several grub clubs and never experienced such behaviour from any diner- and hope this bunch never attend another one!!.
Smoked bacon was even more of a treat than we expected. With the leek risotto it was definitely the dish of the night. Good presentation and nice food overall.
Mr Pigstuff put on an incredible banquet. Highlight include bacon ice cream and quince jelly crumble. Totally original and beautifully cooked delicious.
