Empress Market is an independent kitchen and bar in the heart of Hackney. Our menu places an emphasis on the unique delicacies of Karachi street food cafes. In the evening we serve authentic Pakistani folk cuisine alongside Louisiana cocktails reminiscent of New Orleans nightlife. Sunday’s are what we do best with a Pakistani brunch and bottomless tea infused cocktails. We also host events, chatting about issues that matter to us and doing things we love.
Empress Market celebrates our heritage as well as the places we've travelled and London, the city we call home. It is run by two London girls, Numra & Sara. Numra is in charge of the kitchen. 3 years ago she set up Bun Kabab, a Pakistani street food stall & supper club. A combination of family recipes, street food and a nod to her London lifestyle, her menu explores an alternative side of Pakistani food & culture. Sara runs the bar. She took inspiration from her travels to New Orleans and created Sister Slush a pop-up alcoholic slushy bar. She brings fun Sister Slush vibes to Empress Market, creating a new brand of infused cocktails.
