Bombai - Modern Indian

As a healthy and active New Yorker and now a Londoner, Shweta craved to find contemporary Indian food that was healthy yet flavourful, wholesome, and similar to the home-style food she grew up eating in Bombay. With a Leith's Food & Wine Certificate, after 12+ years in the corporate world, Shweta finally threw in the towels on PowerPoint in exchange for her knives and a spice-box to pursue this persistent obsession.

In a Nutshell

As a healthy and active New Yorker and now a Londoner, Shweta craved to find contemporary Indian food that was healthy yet flavourful, wholesome, and similar to the home-style food she grew up eating in Bombay. The Whole Hog

Indian cuisine is rooted in the belief that food should provide nourishment for your body, peace for your mind, and balance for your soul.

With this tradition in mind, Bombai is a place where you don't have to decide between eating flavourful exciting food and eating mindful, nutritious food no matter what meal of the day. Adapting family owned recipes to appeal to the healthy modern eater, Bombai hopes to bring in a new dimension to the Indian food revolution.

Often non-Indian heritage friends and colleagues would pronounce Shweta's birthplace's name as "Bombai" - an amalgamation of its old colonial name of Bombay and its re-asserted localised name of Mumbai.

The simple meals of Bombai are exactly that - traditional flavours with today's outlook in mind.
