An Ode to the Mango

Why Join the Table?

Celebrate the majestic Mango! 5 mango themed courses with a welcome cocktail and BYOB

April-July is my favourite time of year, as it is the season of the sublimely sweet and fragrant Alphonso and Kesar Mangoes. In homage to nature’s most wonderful fruit and as a celebration of this season, I have created a vibrant and diverse menu utilising many different types of mango.
The meal is served from my quirky and colourful North London home.
Friendly, relaxed and welcoming to everyone.

In a Nutshell

I've always loved cooking and sharing food with friends. I learned from my mum as a little girl and she’s still the best cook I know! Middle Eastern and Indian-inspired dishes really excite me with their big flavours and are perfect for crowds. I wanted to share my passion for food and so 8 Plates was born. I cook the food I enjoy eating, with the emphasis on flavour and colour, using predominantly seasonal ingredients. Come and experience vibrant, delicious, plates cooked with love.

The Whole Hog

Everyone's invited to 8 Plates. Join me in the relaxed and intimate setting of my quirky Archway flat to enjoy a delicious, lovingly prepared meal. I have a passion for hosting and cooking carefully-crafted dishes which layer flavour and celebrate seasonal produce. To develop my menus I primarily draw on a broad range of Middle Eastern flavours and influences from my own Indian heritage to create vibrant, spice-infused dishes. Think charred cauliflower steaks and pumpkin wedges drizzled in aromatic zhoug and chilli spiked harissa and chai spiced lemongrass panna cotta with blackberry lemongrass coulis and pistachio praline. These are served in my small but perfectly-formed flat. With only eight seats, you’ll be sure to make new friends as you enjoy a welcome cocktail, four-course dinner plus an extra surprise course thrown in for good measure!

A very lovely evening with delicious food and very accommodating hosts. The food was so elegantly presented and the level of mango across the 6 meals including the cocktail was handled perfectly. Lovely variety of Indian fusion and the spice element was great with optional side sauces. Roshni and her aunt were so lovely and calm throughout the evening. Great hosts! Would highly recommend and look forward to the next 8 plates.

Roshni's 'Ode to the Mango' was just that, with plenty of poetic ingredients. Perfect meter (five tasty plates paced well over an evening), creative imagery (pretty plating), and a great blend of ideas (vibrant flavour combos). Highlights included cauliflower puffs with green mango chutney (enlivened by mustard-oil infused spicy red sauce) and a cardamom-laced mango shrikhand mousse (SO good). Fun company, cool surroundings, and a welcoming host all added up to a tasty tribute to a fabulous fruit.

Absolutely delicious food, well presented and you could see all the thought and passion that went into making these. Not your everyday food, food with a twist that left you asking what is in this? The sort of food you'd find in a high end restaurant, highly recommend Roshni and 8-Plates and will certainly be going again.
